April 30th will see the four finalists battle it out in the second Students Entrepreneur competition. A first prize of €6k will go to the winners with €3K and €1K going to the respective runners up. Kindly sponsored by BOI, McCannFitzgerald and FRKelly it looks like the competition for the top prize will be well fought.

The event will be opened by the President, Prof John Hughes and judged by four external judges from Industry as follows;

  • Paul Lavery a commercial solicitor from McCann FitzGerald solicitors 
  • Peter O’Reilly Branch Manager, BOI Maynooth
  • Conor Mallaghan, Manager Carton House Estate
  • Conor Boyce, Patent Attorney with FRKelly  

The four finalists are:

  • The Mystery Tours.com -bringing tourists to unknown destinations with unknown activities!
  • Good to Go -providing well needed solutions to concert goers.
  • Las Dublin Nights -making poker accessible and fun around the country.
  • Wind turbines -using well sourced wind turbines to supplement home heating bills

The judges will be putting the competitors and their plans through their paces Dragons Den style with a view to getting to the bottom of their business.  It should make for a rewarding evening and perhaps provide some incentives for entering next year. All are welcome!
