Student Entrepreneur Competition Final - 1st Prize €6,000 went to Alvaro Palomo Navarro

The winner of the 2011 Student Entrepreneur Competition was Alvaro Palomo Navarro, eBitez, a company that will develop smart phone application software to lead the next generation of supermarket online shopping. Alvaro is a final year PhD student in Electronic Engineering.

Sponsors of this annual competition are Bank of Ireland Maynooth and McCann Fitzgerald Solicitors. 

The judging panel for the final included Conor Boyce, Patent Attorney, FRKelly; Paul Lavery, Solicitor, McCann Fitzgerald; Teresa Gorman, Manager, Bank of Ireland, Maynooth; Conor Mallaghan, Managing Director, Carton House.

2nd Prize €3,000 went to Paul Kavanagh of Momemtum

3rd Prize (joint) €500 went to Pro-Design Embroidery, Keith Walsh and Mark Reynolds

3rd Prize (joint) €500 went to HorseBase, Kevin Quinn and Martin Lonergan

Momentum provides an online opportunity for individuals to start their own personal campaign to publicise consumer related issues they want to see resolved in their local area/country - Paul is a Masters student of sofware engineering. 

Pro-Design Embroidery is an established company offering custom embroidery on sports footwear and clothing and has a current contract with Lifestyle Sports - Keith and Mark are undergrad business students.  

HorseBase is an online marketplace for the best sports horses in Ireland providing a one-stop-shop service.  Kevin and Martin are undergrad business students (venture Management).
